• The cartridges with xl has more ink and the cartridge prints more copies. I don't know how many more, but I do know it last longer.

• The XL just means more ink for more page printing. The 245 is ok if you don't use a lot of ink to print. Best value would be the XL

• It just means that it holds more ink. The 245 has less ink in the cartridge, the xl has more, so that’s why you pay more for it.
