Yield is pretty much what Canon said at least on the G3200 model we had. After 37 months it stopped functioning. But we used 2 extra sets of ink bottles so we got our money's worth IMHO. Now we have the G7020 which we brought 2 weeks ago. So far so good. I did a cost analysis and if you print a fair amount of printing it is worth it. My daughters use for school and my wife prints tons of color pages for crafting. When the G3200 stopped working she still wanted another Canon. Now I don't think looking for generic ink is worth it as the Canon ink is really not that expensive and you know what you're getting.
