• When using the Canon U scan utility you can select whether to scan to a pdf, jpeg or a couple of other choices.

• I’m using with MacBook Pro, “Image Capture” app. Can output to: JPEG, TIFF,PNG, JPEG 2000, GIF, BMP and PDF.
