“How to use fax? I have internet connection. How can I use fax on this machine? I don't think I have landline, I have smart phone and wifi at home. I see answers say fax only with landline, whatever that means. Thanks.”

only fax by land "hard wire" phone system. If you want to fax over the internet, you will need to find a supplier, or service that will convert for you.
