There is a bit of a learning curve, but I'm an amateur and learned to use it pretty quickly. Start by using auto mode and it works like any other point and shoot.

There is a bit of a learning curve, but I was able to take good pictures on auto mode my first time out. You might want to download the user guide from the Canon website for detailed operation instructions.
