I was able to plug it directly into my HP laptop, via the A/V Out Digital input on the side of the camera, and view the files. There was no download required.

Please try again later.I transfer mine this way, not sure what is going on with yours but my computer recognized and loaded software and I answered questions what to do with pictures and when I plug in now it downloads quickly. Mine did not come with cord but I had one from older camera.
