“I'm concerned with lag time from when shutter is pressed and image is taken. I read one review where this was a problem on the SX740. I got rid of a Canon SureShot several years ago because of this very issue. Has anyone else experienced this?”

I did not have trouble. Obviously it is not as fast as an SLR camera, but I had no problem in taking shots in the amount of time I desired.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Like any higher quality camera you have to press the button halfway to get it to focus but after that it takes quick photos. Can always change the setting for faster moving objects/sporting events.
