can't afford $899, when will this lens go on sale? null

Just one example to refute the claim follows. I see fast food jobs advertised for $11 and up. Assuming you take a second job earning $11/hour working 20 hours/week, and 2/3 of the gross can be saved, and let's say sales tax is 9% for you, then 7 weeks would be sufficient to cover the entire cost of this lens. Its current sale price would reduce that. Assuming you have funds from another source, you should be able to adequately supplement it with less than a month of the part-time work.
