Is the ink the same as the 1200 null

Yes it uses the same ink. Canon discontinued the old version of the ink and has a new kit that has 2 ink cartridges instead of 3. You can now print more before having to change out so often. The new kits work for the 1200

This model uses Canon KP-108IN Ink.
