The edges of the case keep the screen protector from touching a surface when it is face down - unless you press down on the phone.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.They are barely raised over the edge, so if you want that extra protection I'd try another case or a screen protector. That said, I chose this case because it did NOT have that lip so it was a bit slimmer, and yet the very minimal edge helps with the screen a bit.
