It doesn’t get loose but mine does have a slight tear. But I frequently use mine and I have no issue with it.

My daughter has been a heavy user of her Catalyst case for not quite two months and it is still like brand new. A Best Buy employee highly recommended it to us while we were in the store. He had one clipped to his belt loop and couldn't say enough great things about it. For the price point of this item, I really feel that we will get the use well beyond our money spent on it. I've used this case daily for about 6 months now and can gladly say the flaps are just as snug as the day I bought it. It definitely seems like they used quality rubber.

The one we brought about a year ago is still holding pretty good, not as tight but airpod hasn’t fallen open or anything.

No flaps. You just slide up and slide down to open and close.

I initially worried about that as well. So far it is holding up and goes right back to the way it was. No looseness at all. It feels well structured to handle the repeated use. The top flaps are not the lone factor holding the AirPod case in, the rest of the case is tight enough to hold on. The silicone case grips well to the plastic AirPod case. They stay put even if the flaps are left rolled down. If the flaps ever do go loose, it seems the possibility would be more that the case would lose its water resistance factor rather than allowing the AirPods to fall out.

They do break in a little but unless you're constantly removing the Airpod case from the Catalyst case and aren't overly bending the lips you should be fine. I was using my first case for 6 months with daily use and it was just fine.

It doesn’t get loose. I’m constantly fidgeting with the flap when I have my AirPods in my hand and the rubber always snaps back right.

No they stay just as tight as when tot first took it out the box. I have one on my AirPods 1st gen for well over a year and use those flaps every day they never loosen and never give out. Just bought another one for my 2nd gen AirPods. Hope this helps

Can’t say for sure over time but it’s very tight. You actually need to hands to fold down. I don’t see that being an issue.
