Electric part does separate. The lid stays on only flips up.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No the pitcher is not dishwasher safe and is labeled not to immerse in water. The pitcher and electric coil are separate however it cannot be dissembled. (lid does not come off)

I only put water in the pot and boil it so there is no need for a dishwasher. I used soap and water before the first use but have never washed it again.
