It only extends your Wi-Fi signal closer to the doorbell so that you are able to connect it and receive your alerts. It will not extend your Wi-Fi range throughout the house nor did it mess up our connection but it helped our Wi-Fi reach the Ring Doorbell so that it was operable. Without it, the Ring was useless, plus it has various chimes to set the alert too. Worth the investment. Hope that helps.
