Not sure, but in my case I had FMD installed already, and the device paired easily when I followed the onscreen prompt to "push the button" and hold it near my phone. It chirped that time. I later tried adding the Chipolo App and "pairing," but it wouldn't chirp again when pressing the button and would not pair with the chipolo App. I'm not sure if that's a bug or a feature! I'm not sure if the Chipolo One Point is supposed to work ONLY with FMD, or should work with both, or for that matter whether the Chipolo App has any advantages of FMD. If you DON'T have (or want) FMD, I don't know if it would pair (on first pairing) to the Chipolo App.
