You will probably want to check with your audiologist for the details of your new hearing aids. From your description, you may have hearing aids which are only used with your iPhone app. Ask your audiologist if your hearing aids can work with a Bluetooth streamer or neckloop to receive Bluetooth transmissions from a Bluetooth transmitter. A manually-activated Telecoil in your hearing aid will give you more choices to connect with other Bluetooth accessories.

Bluetooth signals are sent by a device, either your AV receiver or a bluetooth dongle that transmits from an audio output from your TV. Go to google and search for "bluetooth dongle for tv", you'll find a number of options in the $30-$40 range.
