We’re happy to help with your concerns. If the detector is falsing, adjusting the sensitivity mode based on your driving conditions can help reduce false alerts. Stationary speed signs may not always be detected, as they are often used for traffic monitoring rather than enforcement, so occasional non-alerts are normal as they tend to also drift outside of detection range. The “zapping” you experienced was likely from a laser gun. Laser signals can be detected, but because the beam is very narrow, it must directly hit the detector's sensor in your vehicle for an alert to occur.

He may have been "zapping" others with a laser gun. Laser in most cases can't be detected unless its pointed directly at you.
