“Can I use my radar without going to the quick start guide I don't want to use the drive smart I want to just use the radar can I use it without having the drive smart? I just bought the Cobra rad 4801 I'm kind of scared it's not going to be good.”

Thank you for your question. The Drive Smarter app is completely optional, so yes, you can run the RAD 480i without the app.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you can use the radar without using the app. I go back and forth. The app is like using waze. It helps you alert others who may be using the app. Furthermore, the radar detector is pretty accurate. I tested it alongside my older radar that inknow for a fact is accurate and it performed very well. Only reason I don't use my older one now is because the sound went out on it. I've been using the 480 for about a month or so and I'm very satisfied. So don't be scared, it will alert you with or without utilizing the app. I could go on and on but I believe I answered your question.
