“shouldn't the factory fob still still open & close the side & trunk doors on a 2017 toyota sienna van ? after I had this unit installed my factory fob will not operate the doors to open or close ,but will lock & unlock ? this doesn't seem right to me !”

Yes, your original key fob should function normally. I would call or show up to your install location and have the issue resolved.
