The answer for this question is not true because I bought about 12 of this remote starts for my family and close relatives and no one complained about any issue that they can’t use their factory keys. Everyone happy about this product. Just to let this person that ask this question knows that I would say it depends on how good the technician’s knowledge that do the installation for your car remote start.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Just had mine installed on a 2019 Toyota Highlander and I am able to use the factory remote to lock, unlock and remote start the vehicle.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. For some cars, the original remote may not work once you use the remote start because the remote start module will override the factory unit you disable the remote start module (ie. with remote start controller).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Toyotas (some/most newer models) in particular can't use a factory fob while the remote start is active. The systems interfere and cause various issues, the other guy answered the question about hood pins accurately.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Using the factory remote can set the security system off on some models or may not work when the vehicle is running. As far as the hood pin, most vehicles will get the info from a factory hood pin but many installers just don't take the time to install these. They should be used for safety.
