“I lost my manufacturer FOB to a VW Touareg. This compustar system is more affordable and has more features than what the dealer will provide. Would this system work without the original FOB? It seems like a good replacement with upgrades.”

Most remote starts require you to sacrifice a fob when installing in a Volkswagen. Therefore, you would need to give one up at the time of installation, and still have another to operate the vehicle. The exception to this is the Idatastart VW/Audi-specific remote starts. They allow some VW/Audi models to remote start without the owner losing a key. Check with your local install bay to see if yours would qualify.
