• I don't know the function of a harness, but I think it is useful to the car remote control.

• If you purchase the DS4, part of the installation should include a harness kit that is specific to your vehicle, which is typically a T-harness kit, so you ought not need this harness, which is used under other specific installation conditions (i.e. you don't want a "second "harness, so there should be no need to add it to your cart).
