You should be able to pull the folded handle away from the dryer at a 90° angle and it should stay unfolded. Otherwise, your blow dryer might be defective.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Dont pull down or up as the arrow would suggest. It twists, only one way to rotate the handle. It will click twice and the power source button will end up on the inside of the dryer.
