“Do the 3 RGB fans need to be connected to 3 different RGB ports for the lighting effect? In other words, does my motherboard need 3 RGB ports to connect the 3 fans or 1 RGB port on the motherboard that connects all 3 RGBs for the fans?”

The rgb came with a splitter installed so only needed one port for lighting . The fans themselves did not come with a splitter - I had to order a one as there are 4 fans in the case and my motherboard only had 3 fan slots.
