• Both if your board allows it. I use a the adapter but on the bottom of the mouse has a switch to go between the two

• To answer your question, it connects via Bluetooth, and adapter, or buy a mini USB cable. The mini USB cable is primarily for charging the mouse but you can use the mouse while charging. You can also use the wireless adapter to connect the mouse to your computer or if your computer is Bluetooth capable, you can use the Bluetooth capability to connect a mouse.
