“Does the power needed for this fan go through the cord that comes with it and can that cord only plug into the controller for power It’s not showing an Icue link for me and I can’t get it to turn on”

The fan is exclusively powered and controlled through the iCUE Link system hub. It cannot connect to your computer without it and unfortunately it does not come with one. If you want a corsair fan with RGB but do not have a system hub you'll either have to get one or just get Corsairs RS120 ARGB fans that can be controlled with your motherboard or a fan hub
