I think the optical switches feel better for typing quickly and smoothly. I use the K100 for work and gaming. I'd go to Best Buy and check them both out. They usually have the K100 on display (in the keyboard section) which have the optical switches and a K70 on display (near the prebuild computers) which have the speed switches.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.OPX switches are rated for a lot longer lifespan. If you want your switches to last about 50 million more clicks than the Cherry MX then go for the OPX.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Some of this can be fine tuned in the Corsair software for the k100, however it's mostly a preference thing as for whether you want optical switches or not. If you are used to mechanical switches, it may take a bit of getting used to, but ultimately it just comes down to preference. I love the optical switches and prefer them, they also have a longer rated lifespan. That being said the feel of reds is a bit more buttery if you can tell the difference.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Go for life span of the OPX over the Cherry switches.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.OPX switches are fantastic. So satisfying to type on.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Switch preference for typing will vary from person to person. Both will be linear and smooth with the Cherry MX Speed switches actuating at a higher point. It's usually best to try them out in person find out which one your most prefer. -Brian
