This would be a GIANT jump in feels for either one. Both switches will actuate MUCH quicker than a membrane, so much so that you probably wouldn't notice the difference between the OPX and Speeds.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'd go for the optical, because of the life span of the optical as opposed to the cherry mx switches.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It depends on your preference, optical are much more responcive, but that might be a negative as even slight depressions can result in a keystroke. Optical sound much better than any of the cherry mx (mechanical) switches, less noisy, more solid sounding. Mechanical switches have been around for quite some time though and may be more reliable, or unnoticeable if you're not too picky about keyboard responsiveness ... Tldr: optical are future-proof, more responcive, sound better, but cost more. Mechanical are older so more reliable, cost less and have more options for specific feel.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The OPX are super responsive and take some getting use to, very unique and prioritize response over all else. If you plan on doing more work, typing, etc. you may find the cherry mx to be more your style as they are a more traditional switch type.

There's a wide variety of key switches which cater to many different user preferences ranging from the clicking audio, actuation force, feedback, etc. Considering you're looking into your first mechanical keyboard, the best thing to do is check them out in person at your local Best Buy - they should have keyboards with different key switches for you to try out. Experiencing the various key switches in person will give you the best idea of gauging the right key switches for you.
