no it works just like a regular keyboard. Press shift to get the symbols below the letters/numbers. they are also not as brightly lit as the rest of the key.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It functions like any other keyboard (No shift to type numbers). The LED lights are actually near the top of the keys, so they put the numbers on top so they'd be brighter.
