Hi Gabe, There would be many G5 submodels. Please refer to your specific manual for upgrade paths for memory and other internal devices, or reach out to us with more information and we can help. As far as using different brands for memory, we couldn't guarantee on our end that there wouldn't be any compatibility issues as the modules were not tested together.
