It is not the ram that is either dual or quad, it is your computers cpu that determines how much & how fast you can transfer info from your ram to cpu. DDR-DDR2-DDR3 are all dual channel, DDR4 will run in either dual or quad. It is an upgrade from earlier versions of ram, I hope this helps.
