I see usb and rca type connect . Does need both hooked up to work or if only one I don't know which one...HELP null

Any input type of the 3 possible work independently of each other. RCA (actually a 3.5mm standard headphone jack with mic input) can be use completely unpowered, or you can use the USB cable directly pluged in with a PC/MAC, which results in the highest definition sound possible and charges the headset, or you can use the provided Wireless USB dongle in wireless mode. They all work independently. To note, you can switch seamlessly with a PC between wireless and wired mode (to charge it) without skipping a beat.

I use just the USB or the Wireless feature. You do not need both at the same time.

It does not need a cable to work. It has a wireless connector you plug in. There is a switch to go from USB or wireless. The cable for USB is included.
