Been assembling my own PCs for 40+ years. This paste is about the correct consistency, do not apply a large amount. Attaching the heatsink should cause the paste to spread.

Please try again later.Okay now that you have 10 months of experience you may now know that thermal paste application matters not on how you apply it as more to how well it spreads when applying the cooler...example: you could do many small dots, or one big dot in the middle, you could do a line down the middle or a cross...all of those are proven methods that work...so how you add it doesn't really matter...

Please try again later.So the golden zone for thermal paste is you want to add enough to cover the top of the plate when you press down with the heat sink onto the cpu without it spreading over the side and down over the cpu. If you remove your water cooler or heat sink with fan from the cpu and you see that it has spread over the sides then you added too much. This is a easy fix that just requires isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab or cue tip. You will unfortunate need to apply new paste once done. This set comes with a stinsel which helps to avoid this problem and there is no shame in this rookie mistake.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.its not supposed to be very thin as its designed to be placed in the middle of the cpu and as you tighten the cpu it spreads. It also has a guide that is used for creating a pattern which thin paste wouldnt work with
