Q: QuestionDoes this work better as an add on with central air or can it cool efficiently on its own as a standalone ac unit for a small room?

• A:Answer It can definitely stand on its own. This unit is 10,000 btu and very capable of cooling a large room. Our room is over 400 sq ft and it cools the entire room effortlessly. We set what temp we want the room to be and it gets the room to that temp in minutes.
