Q: Does this work better as an add on with central air or can it cool efficiently on its own as a standalone ac unit for a small room?

A: It can definitely stand on its own. This unit is 10,000 btu and very capable of cooling a large room. Our room is over 400 sq ft and it cools the entire room effortlessly. We set what temp we want the room to be and it gets the room to that temp in minutes.

Q: how heavy is it

A: It feels like it is about 40-50 lbs

Q: Does this a/c need outside water dripping or can it be used inside with an attachment?

A: no outside water dripping, it has a pan to hold the water that need to be emptied.

Q: Are there instructions on how to use the remote control and what the "swing" button on the remote control does? There were no remote control instructions in the manual that was included with the air conditioner.

    We love this unit!

    I purchased this Costway 10,000 btu portable AC unit with fan and dehumidifier for our master bedroom. Our bedroom sits over our garage and it just holds heat that makes our room feel humid and muggy. Our bedroom is huge with high ceilings and this unit cools it down very quickly. We are able to get a good night sleep in these muggy Michigan summers. The unit has a remote control that is extremely easy to use and the led screen has large print that is easy to read. Set up was extremely easy. Take it out of the box, hook the hose to the window with the sliding spacer to block the heat from coming in and plug it in. Press on, set your temperature, sit back and enjoy the comfort. I would recommend this unit in a heartbeat. Its a workhorse for sure. The spacer is made to use in both windows that slide up and down and windows that slide side to side. Again, 5 stars.

    Let’s get our cool on

    I purchased the 10,000 BTU AC is as described. It cools pretty quick, filters easy to get to, I like how the vent on top can be set to go up and down to move the air more. If on high the air blowing is a little loud, but I do have mine beside my bed. I keep it set on 61* (lowest you can set it) and my room temperature hangs around 65-67*. That’s on a really hot hot day (90* and up) cloudy and mild ( around 80* outside) it will drop down to 62-63*. I literally just bought 4 of these on Labor Day if that tells you anything on how much I like them. I have one in my living room kitchen and other bedroom. My bill with 18 days went up 19$. days on it went up

    Disappointed

    I’ve had this unit for a while now. I am disappointed in the unit. It’s currently 92 outside and this unit was struggling in a 12x14 bedroom. No matter wht setting I use the temperature continues to go up. I have it on cool set to 73 degrees with max fan level and right now the temperature is 77 in the bedroom. Yesterday it was only 89 degrees and I had the unit on auto. I finally switched over to cool when the temperature got to 80 degrees in the bedroom. I do give it an extra star because it works great as a dehumidifier. Overall. It works if the temperature doesn’t get above 85 degrees outside.

    COSTWAY 10K BTU PORTABLE AC UNIT

    This unit performs well and was very easy to install. The only issue was fitting the window jamb for a vertical assembly. The plastic was short by 6 inches. Made up for it with some scrap material.
