I received the same error message from a card I bought less than 4 hours earlier and it came back already registered so I figured it was a scam, in this day and age that is where people's mind goes first. Anyway I reached out to Crickett and they help me out and registered the card without issues.

Once redeemed and the funds are on your cricket account that credit stays on the account until used. There is a difference between REDEEMING that card and then using the funds once posted to your account. Hope that helps.
