You can run it thru a hub. I use one with a usb A the the Mac mini then use the usb C on the hub. It won’t be as fast as a straight usb C connection but it’s works great.

Yes.  I use this drive with a laptop that has a USB-A port.  But I didn't use an adapter, I simply bought the right cable Usb-C to Usb -a .  Less connections this way.

Yes, an adapter will allow it to operate, but it will be a little slower.

As the prior person noted, if you use a USB-C to USB-A adapter or cable, you will be able to use the drive from the USB-A port.

I purchases a USB A to USB C cable.  I had electrical connection issues trying to use an adapter.  I use my SSD on 3 different computers with USB A only.  I have no issues with this set up.
