Why would it catch on fire, as one person said it did? null

I haven’t heard that but they always recommend unplugging all small appliances when not in use.

The plug is ungrounded, although it is supposedly grounded inside the unit. I’m having to return mine to the company because the plug and cord get very hot, and it burned the outlet. Could have started a fire if I hadn’t turned it off. Tried it in a different outlet and it did the same thing. I’ll not buy another of these, they are dangerous. Check your cord and plug for heat when using.
