How long is electrical cord null

The cord is 36" long from the bottom of the unit, but it covers the first 2.5" if plugged in from left side, and 4.5" if plugged in from right side. If you run cord to back of unit, you lose 8", and if plugged in from the front you lose 1.5" -- but that would not be a good look.

Approximately the electrical cord is 34 inches long.
