The 1500VA has an "input voltage sensitivity" setting; here's how it's documented. From this it seems that you would select "low sensitivity" if you were running on a backup generator. Input Voltage Sensitivity Users can set up the adequate sensitivity according to the equipment and the power. Once the utility power is out of range by the UPS, the UPS will switch to battery mode to provide the power to the connected equipment immediately. The sensitivity options are explained below: Medium sensitivity is the default to the utility power. The low-quality power from the fuel generator may cause the UPS to switch the battery mode frequently. In order to avoid this condition, Low sensitivity is recommended. If the equipment required a higher quality of power, High sensitivity is recommended but may result in the frequent discharging.
