How much is a little water and where did it land? In most cases the unplugging and letting it dry probably didn't change the outcome either way if the water got somewhere problematic then then the damage was likely done before you could unplug it if it was just a little on a solid part of the outer case then it would probably be fine to just pat it up with a paper towel without unplugging it... but just for completeness sake there's a narrow band of middle possibility where the water didn’t immediately land on something problematic but then spread to such a spot after you unplugged it in which case you did save your device
