It may be a solution. It would depend on how active the modem is during any outage. Even with the modem experiencing low activity, 5 hours is really pushing the limits of this device. If you have anything else plugged into it with the modem, the time would be significantly decreased. Like any rechargeable battery, that life span degrades over time so it may do 5 hours brand new, but by 6 months to a year it could be in the 3.5 to 4 hour range. If it were me, I would not consider this as a solution to the problem you are experiencing. To be safe, you need more power storage to meet the potentially long down times.
