it will clean up the sinewave when you switch but it's a small device. It will all depend on what you are plugging into it. Larger the device or power requirement the less likely this will work. I would consider a larger UPS if you were connecting large devices to it. currently have an amazon echo, a google assistant and an air purifier connected to mines,

This UPS does not have double conversion which is recommended for using a UPS with generator power. Depending on how the generator is configured this UPS might not be compatible. Great question!
