“Odd problem but the computer by itself doesn't seem to connect to a monitor and my friend and I are trying to figure it out, but we don't have much knowledge on it”

If you are using an HDMI cable you have to make sure your monitor is set for and HDMI input. By doing this you have to go into monitor settings.
