“Has anyone had this for a long time and can definitely say that it will continue to work? I’m afraid that I will get a defective product and won’t be able to do anything about it. Some reviews spoke of the ram burning up.”

Like with any computer, there could be issues with it that are unknown to the manufacturer. The issues can vary in difficulty to solve. Even so, most computers have their fair share of issues, and if you do have one, you could choose to return it or fix it yourself. That shouldn't deter you from buying this though. You just need to be lucky that you don't have any problems.
