The way mine came setup you have to use the reset button until the solid collor comes up. There are enough pre-config lighting affects that are pre-installed. The other option is to open the right side of the case behind the motherboard and find the connector cable that is not plugged in that is connected to the board controlling the fan LEDS and connect that to the mother board. Depending on where you connect it you may be able to configure a default in the BIOS or have to run the motherboard software for controlling color.
