“I bought an AOC Freesync monitor to go with this PC; but the only way I can get the monitor to work without flickering is if I disable the Freesync setting. Any suggestions to make it work? All drivers are updated and connected via hdmi.”

How many hz is the monitor? HDMI is most likely your issue here. Try using a dvi cable. HDMI can only hold 60hz max.
