A:Answer Due to the rise of cloud-based download platforms, nowadays nearly every console game released by Microsoft/Sony can be purchased on Steam. In case you don't know, Steam is an online marketplace where you can buy games straight from the developer, no CD drive required. Games from companies like Nintendo obviously won't have this capability, which is unfortunate (At least to me) but you can buy millions of other games either using Steam or the Windows Store, which comes preinstalled on this computer.
In a nutshell, you won't need to buy an external drive unless you already have movies/games you want to install on the new computer.
