“I plan to use this desktop as a music server primarily. It has plenty of processor speed and RAM and storage. Everything is fed through the USB ports to my DAT unit and out to the stereo components. Do you see any issues with this application?”

There should be no issues considering this will mainly be used to store the media files on your network as everything else as far as processing and producing the sound will be done externally of the PC. Either way this PC should have no problems any way you decide to use it including using it as a full media server as the PC is more than powerful enough to do such tasks and capable of even more.
