“When the computer goes into sleep mode, the keyboard or mouse will not wake it up, you must hit the power button once (which flashes blue while asleep) I checked the keyboard and mouse settings and everything is on. Is this normal for this unit?”

For me, the mouse wakes it up just fine. I think this might be a problem with your unit.
