“What type of SSD? Is it M.2? If not, is there an option for a M.2 ?”

• Thanks for reaching out. The SSD should be a SATAIII SSD. There should be m.2 slot available on the motherboard for a M.2 SSD. • No, it is not M.2 SSD You will be receiving the the cheapest SSD My unit came with Samsung - 860 EVO
